Scope of Services
The pool provides support to public higher education institutions through a comprehensive strategic enterprise risk management function that focuses on the risks associated with safety, property, reputation, financial, compliance, and operational exposures. This is accomplished through the application of risk financing which includes risk transfer and risk retention, implementation of risk controls, risk assessments, training and compliance awareness and monitoring.
As administrator, our role encompasses all insurance related operations including; underwriting, claims management, loss control/risk management, accounting and finance, committee management, in-house actuarial review and overall program management services. We schedule, facilitate and manage all Board and committee meetings. In addition to the insurance program management role, Berkley Risk also handles and manages all consultant relationships on behalf of the program including, actuary, financial auditor, investment advisor and insurance agent management. The pool does not have any of its own employees, therefore, we report directly to the Board of Trustees regarding all of the insurance management operations of the Trust.
