Workers' Compensation Claim Examiner

LOCATION:
Farmington, CT

POSITION OVERVIEW:  
To perform workers' compensation claims adjudication and investigation in the states of New Hampshire and Vermont. Responsible for all technical aspects of claim management for assigned files including compliance with all established performance guidelines.

MINIMUM SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School diploma (or equivalent) plus a minimum of two years workers’ compensation claim processing experience or BA/BS degree with one year workers’ compensation claim processing experience.
  • Experience must include handling of medical-only, lost-time and litigated claims.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of workers’ compensation rules/laws.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Good math and analytical ability.
  • New Hampshire & Vermont W/C license is required.
  • Must maintain a valid driver’s license and carry vehicle insurance coverage.

WC Senior Claim Examiner

LOCATION:
Minneapolis, MN

POSITION OVERVIEW:
Responsible for managing caseloads primarily consisting of complex workers' compensation cases including extended disability cases, litigated claims, employers' liabilit6y claims, and other difficult claims assigned by claim manager or supervisor. Responsible for all technical aspects of claim management for assigned files including compliance with all established performance guidelines.

MINIMUM SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Two years post-high school education and five years workers' compensation claims management or BA/BS degree with three years experience. Experience must include litigation, subrogation and complex medical/legal issues.
  2. Demonstrated working knowledge of workers' compensation administration rules/laws.
  3. Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  4. Must be able to interface with clients, legal counsel, health care professionals, etc. Good math and analytical ability.
  5. Excellent customer service skills.
  6. Basic PC skills and a working knowledge of Windows environment. Experience with a client/server based claims processing system desirable.
  7. Occasional travel, possibly out of town or overnight.
  8. Must maintain a valid driver's license and carry vehicle insurance coverage.

AVP – TPA Operations & Workers' Compensation Claims

LOCATION:
Minneapolis, MN

POSITION OVERVIEW:
Manages and provides leadership to TPA claim operations WC and P&C including any and all of the following claim personnel: clerical support staff, claim adjusting staff, claim supervisors, claim managers, medical bill review staff, systems administration staff and business analysts. Emphasis will be on efficient and effective administration of WC claims handled on behalf of client companies, developing and monitoring meaningful metrics for all lines of business (WC & P&C), assuring compliance with State and other Regulatory requirements (WC & P&C), assisting in driving innovation with improved technology, processes and work flow improvements (WC & P&C). This position will drive the development of the competitive advantage of Berkley Risk Administrator's TPA market segment through operational excellence, assuring client retention and achieving organizational profitability.

MINIMUM SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:

  1. College degree or equivalent experience in insurance and customer service.
  2. Minimum 10 years multi-line claim technical experience preferred.
  3. Minimum 3 years supervisory experience.
  4. Comprehensive knowledge of insurance marketplace, including self-funding.
  5. Thorough knowledge of WC rules and regulations, compensability, determination, litigation, benefits calculation and statutory filing requirements.
  6. Proven ability to train, establish performance objectives and evaluate employee performance.
  7. Strong analytic skills and decision making ability.
  8. Strong verbal and written communication and customer service skills.
  9. National/multi-State experience preferred.
